“Charlas magistrales 2021” concludes with the presentation by Dominican poet José Mármol

New Delhi - The series of online literary conversations “Charlas magistrales” (Master classes) concluded on Thursday 2nd December with the presentation of the Dominican poet José Mármol. 

Charlas Magistrales” has been a yearlong program of dialogues with major poets from Spain and Latin America, organized by the Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi, with the aim of presenting to Indian audiences the voices of well-known literary figures from the Hispano-American world. It featured, amongst others, Raúl Zurita, Coral Bracho, Jesus Aguado and Antonio Colinas. All conversations have been conducted by the Indian poet Subhro Bandhopaday. 

The participation of José Mármol was coordinated by the Dominican Embassy in New Delhi. Born in 1960, José Mármol is one of the leading poets from the Dominican Republic. He has authored several collections of poems and essays. His poetic works include El ojo del arúspice (1984), La invención del día(1989), Lengua de paraíso (1992), Deus ex machina y otros poemas (2001), Lenguaje del mar (2012) y Yo, la isla dividida (2019). He has participated  in numerous festivals in Europe, United States and Latin America, and has been translated into English, French, Italian and Russian.
