H.E. David Puig presents his credentials in the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal 

New Delhi - On April 11, 2022, H.E David Puig, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of India, presented his Letters of Credence, accrediting him as concurrent Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

During the ceremony, held at the presidential palace in Kathmandu, Ambassador Puig expressed to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari the Dominican Republic's intentions to further develop its relations with Nepal. "As the first Dominican Chief of Mission to present credentials to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, I enthusiastically take on the assignment of working to strengthen our bilateral relations," Ambassador Puig said.

In a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Mr. Narayan Khadka, Ambassador Puig stressed the need for the countries' to expand collaboration in multilateral forums, especially when it comes to issues related to climate change, which represents a significant challenge for the two developing nations.

Another area in which both nations could find synergies is tourism, an industry that plays a critical role in the economic development of the Dominican Republic and Nepal. "I had the opportunity to speak to the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, Mr. Prem Ale," said Ambassador Puig. "We agreed to exchange experiences that can serve to strengthen our respective industries. Nepal is quite interested in learning about the promotion mechanisms employed by our government to promote its tourist attractions internationally."

Ambassador Puig's agenda in Kathmandu also included a meeting with the vice president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries of Nepal, Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, as well as discussions with journalists and distinguished personalities from the civil society.
