Minister Roberto Alvarez participates in the Voices of the Global South Summit


New Delhi - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, H.E. Roberto Alvarez, participated in the Voices of the Global South Summit, held in an online format on 12th and 13th January 2023. This initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi gathered 120 heads of state and Ministers of Foreign Affairs in 10 thematic sessions, with the objective of identifying and discussing the priorities of the Global South in the present geopolitical scenario.

H.E. Roberto Alvarez, Minister of External Affairs of the Dominican Republic, participated in the session on the G20, chaired by H.E. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India. Representatives from Philippines, Serbia, Albania, Egypt. Ruanda, Chile and Trinidad and Tobago, amongst other countries, also intervened in this session.

In an interview with ANI, David Puig, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to India, expressed that the Summit reflected India’s “long-standing and concrete engagement” with the countries of the Global South”, adding that with the Latin America and Caribbean regions “this engagement has been growing over the past decade”.
