Dominican Foreign Minister, Roberto Alvarez, meets his Indian counterpart, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in NY

New Delhi - On Tuesday the 22nd September 2021, Dominican Foreign Minister, Roberto Alvarez, held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in New York, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. 

Their discussion focused on strengthening the relations between the two countries and on the steps taken by India for the opening of their diplomatic mission in Santo Domingo, this year.

Indian Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, informed that its ministry had sent to the Dominican Government the agreement request for the proposed first resident Indian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic.   

On behalf of the Dominican people, Minister Roberto Alvarez expressed his gratitude to the Indian Government for the donation of 30,000 Covid-19 vaccines earlier this year, that allowed the Dominican Republic to start it’s vaccination campaign with its frontline health workers.
