Bengali Poet Subhro Bandopadhyay reads for the celebration of the World Poetry Day 2021 in Santiago

NEW DELHI - On the occasion of the celebration of the World Poetry Day organized by the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Culture, in Santiago de los Caballeros, on the 21st March 2021, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic coordinated the participation of Bengali Poet Subhro Bandopadhyay. In a recording made for the occasion, he read one of the poems from his collection Sumar Sal (2018), in Bengali and Spanish.

Subhro Bandopadhyay is an Indian poet born in 1978, in Calcutta. Apart from an extensive list of publications in his native language, three of his poetry collections have been published in Spain: La ciudad leopardo (Olifante, 2010), Poemas metálicos (Amargord, 2013) and Sumar sal (El Sastre de Apollinaire, 2018). He has been invited to distinguished poetry festivals including the Medellin International Poetry Festival, Colombia and Expoesía, Spain. Presently, he teaches Spanish at Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi.
