Embassy of the Dominican Republic attends “Made In Bangladesh Week” in Dacca

New Delhi - Mr. Gustavo Sosa, Minister Counsellor of our mission in India, travelled to Dhaka to participate in the first edition of the "Made in Bangladesh Week" event held from November 12 to 16, 2022.  This visit was organized in the continuity of our mission interactions with Bangladesh textile industry's representatives, held last March in the framework of the presentation of credentials in Dacca of H.E. David Puig, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in India, concurrent in Bangladesh.

In his meetings with officials from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and with CEOs of textile companies from Bangladesh, Mr. Gustavo Sosa highlighted the opportunities offered by the Dominican Republic as an investment destination for textile companies looking to expand their presence in the United States market.

"Made in Bangladesh Week" kicked off on Sunday, November 12, with the presence of H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The event was attended by ministers of the Bangladeshi government, diplomats and various representatives of the different business sectors involved in the production and marketing chain of the textile sector.

On Monday, November 13, the 37th convention of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) was held. This event counted with the presence of delegates from more than 20 countries. It was jointly organized by the International Garment Federation (IAF), the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), and the Bangladesh Embroidered Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).

On Tuesday, November 14, the Dhaka Garment Summit was held under the theme "Altering the Narrative Chronicle of the Bangladesh Ready-Made Garment Industry".
