The first resident Ambassador of India to the DR, H.E. Abbagani, presents his credentials

NEW DELHI – On the 2nd of February 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of India in the Dominican Republic, H.E. Ramu Abbagani, presented his credentials as the first resident Ambassador of India to the Dominican Republic, before the Honourable President Luis Abinader Corona. The ceremony was held in Santo Domingo, within three days of his arrival, at the Ambassador’s Hall of the presidential palace. Two days prior to the presentation of his credentials, Ambassador Abbagani met with the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Roberto Álvarez, to whom he presented the unsealed copy of his Letter of Credence.

On the 9th of February, Ambassador Abbagani held his first working meeting with the Vice-Minister for Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Mr. José Julio Gómez.

In a ceremony held at the National Botanical Garden, on January 28th, 2022, the Indian Embassy in Santo Domingo commemorated the 73rd anniversary of the Republic of India. The function was led by the former Charge D'Affaires of the Mission, Second Secretary Arup Kumar Saha. During the event the President of the Commonwealth Round Table in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Fernando González Nicolás, highlighted that the opening of the Indian Embassy in the Dominican Republic will attract investments from India and boost the trade between the two countries.
