H.E. Puig addresses the 5th batch phase 2 of the ISA's Bankers Training Program LAC countries

New Delhi – On the 18th of February 2022, H.E. David Puig addressed the valedictory session of the 5th batch of participants of the second phase of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Bankers Training Program for the Latin American & Caribbean Region (LAC). Highlighting the importance of this capacity building initiative, he encouraged all the participants to become ambassadors of solar energy and to implement what they’ve learned during the course, back in their country.

The sessions that took place from the 14th to the 18th of February 2022, were attended by a total of 164 participants, from 7 LAC countries, including eight representatives from the Dominican Republic. Amongst them officials from the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, the Association of Commercial Banks (ABA), Banco Popular Dominicano (BPD), investment fund management company Pioneer Funds, and the securities broker company Puesto de Bolsa CCI.

As stated by the ISA, the objective of this week-long initiative was to “assist Bankers from ISA Member Countries in bridging the knowledge gap and developing specific skills in the context of Development of Bankable Solar Energy based Projects”.

A franco-indian initiative launched in 2015, with headquarters in Gurugam, India, the ISA was conceived as a coalition of solar-resource-rich countries to address their special energy needs. It aims at being "an action-oriented, member-driven, collaborative platform for increased deployment of solar energy technologies to enhance energy security and sustainable development, and to improve access to energy in developing member countries".
