Ambassador David Puig visits Bangladesh


New Delhi - Ambassador David Puig travelled to Dhaka from the 4th to the 7th February 2023, to hold meetings with representatives from the government, private sector and cultural institutions from Bangladesh.

To review the progress in the bilateral agenda between Bangladesh and the Dominican Republic, Ambassador Puig held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh with Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury, Secretary West, Hasan Abdullah Towhid, director general for North America, and Muhammad Mozammel Haque, Director General for South America.

In order to follow up on the invitation extended to representatives of the textile industry of Bangladesh to visit the Dominican Republic, Ambassador Puig held a meeting with Mr. Moazzem Hossain Moti, president of the Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA). The President, vice presidents and members of the organization confirmed their interest to visit the Dominican Republic with the aim of exploring synergies in the textile sector.

Ambassador Puig also visited the Dhaka Art Summit and took the opportunity to meet with Rajeeb and Nadia Samdani, founders of the Samdani Foundation and organisers of the Summit. He also visited the Ekushey Book Fair, organized by the Bangla Academy.  In both cultural events, he had the occasion to interact with journalists, writers and artists from Bangladesh.
