Chef Addys Jáquez and the Dominican Embassy bring Dominican Gastronomy to India


New Delhi - With the aim of presenting the variety of Dominican gastronomy to Indian audiences, the embassy of the Dominican Republic in India invited the renowned Dominican chef Addys Jáquez and successfully organized the Dominican Food Festival 2023. This cultural and gastronomic event was held from March 11th to 19th in collaboration with Fio Pop restaurant, located in the DLF Avenue shopping center in the Saket sector.

The menu for this festival was specially curated by chef Addys Jáquez, in collaboration with the team of Fio Pop. For ten days, the Indian public was able to taste a selection of typical dishes, such as "Mofongo", "Pastelón de Berenjenas", "Chivo guisado" and "Majarete".

To mark the inauguration of the festival, the Dominican Embassy in India organized a bachata workshop led by dancers Gaurav Aggarwal and Yana Kaushykava at the DLF Avenue shopping center, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the music and dance of the Dominican Republic. Throughout the day of the inauguration, Dominican music was played, and images of the country were projected on the screens of the commercial plaza.

With the same intention of promoting Dominican gastronomy, the Dominican Embassy in India celebrated the Independence Day of the Dominican Republic with a buffet of typical dishes also prepared by chef Addys Jáquez. The celebration was attended by prominent members members from the political, business and cultural communities in New Delhi as well as by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in India. India's Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, was present as a special guest for the occasion.
