Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, takes part in Voices of the Global South Summit

New Delhi - In a virtual session convened on November 17, 2023, Eng. Antonio Almonte, Minister of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic, contributed to the Energy Ministers session of the Second Voices of the Global South Summit. The gathering, chaired by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India, saw participation from ministers representing several nations, including Ecuador, Cuba, United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Equatorial Guinea, and Mozambique.

The Summit convened on November 17, 2023, served as a platform, bringing together heads of state, foreign ministers, and ministers from diverse sectors of countries across Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The discussions were structured across ten thematic sessions, aiming to delve into multifaceted aspects impacting the Global South.

The Voices from the Global South initiative, advocated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a pivotal component of India's presidency of the G20, aims to foster dialogues centered around the perspectives and priorities of the global south within the current geopolitical context. India, through its G20 presidency, has been instrumental in advancing discussions to amplify these priorities, advocating for their central role in global governance deliberations.
