Technical exchange on migration between the ICM India and the NIM DR

New Delhi – On the 20th of December 2021, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in India coordinated an on-line exchange held between the India Centre for Migration (ICM) and the National Institute of Migration (INM) of the Dominican Republic. This technical exchange was conceived taking into consideration the importance of migratory dynamics for both nations. 

The Dominican delegation was led by Dr. Wilfredo Lozano, Director of the INM, who was accompanied by members of his team. Dr. Surabi Singh, Chief Administrative Officer of the ICM, led the Indian delegation. H.E. Ramu Abbagani, Ambassador designate of India to the Dominican Republic, was also present during the dialogue as part of the Indian delegation.

During his opening remarks, Ambassador David Puig expressed his satisfaction for the conduction of this first exchange between the ICM and the INM. In their presentations, both entities explained the scope of their mandates and gave an overview of the different ongoing projects. 

In the interest of furthering the exchange and identifying possible areas of knowledge transfer on migration policies, the India Centre for Migration (ICM) and the National Institute of Migration (INM) of the Dominican Republic, agreed to maintain an open channel for communication.
