Ambassador David Puig meets Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi

New Delhi –  On 4th March 2022, Ambassador David Puig paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State of External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi. Held at the Minister office in South Block, the meeting was the occasion to discuss the growth potential for the Indo-Dominican relations following the opening of the Indian resident mission in the Dominican Republic in January 2022.

Ambassador Puig and Minister Lekhi agreed on the need to join efforts to strengthen the commercial and investment ties between the two countries. They also discussed the opportunities to increase cooperation in various fields such as higher education, health, information technology, space and oceanography research.

Recognizing that culture, and in particular yoga and ayurveda, constitute one of the strongest links between the Dominican Republic and India, Ambassador Puig and Minister Lekhi exchanged ideas on ways to nurture this relation.

Gloria Gangte, Joint Secretary in charge of Latin America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of External Affairs, Siddhart Malik, personal assistant to the Minister of State, and Ana Ferrand, first Secretary at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in India, were also present at the meeting.
